Манастир Студеница је задужбина Стефана Немање и налази се
57 км јужно од Краљева. Грађена је између 1186. и 1196. године, када се Стефан
Немања одрекао престола у корист средњег сина Стефана, замонашио и добио име
Симеон. Симеон тада долази у Студеницу и у њој остаје две године, а потом
одлази на Свету гору, где је и преминуо. Свети Сава доноси мошти Светог Симеона
1207. године у Студеницу и ту остаје да борави као игуман. У Студеници Сава
пише Студенички типик којим се уређује поредак и организација живота у овој
монашкој заједници. Студеница је једна од ретких светиња која је у аутентичном
виду сачувала и храм и читав комплекс са зидинама, улазном кулом и трпезаријом
Светог Саве. Најважнија црква у Студеници је посвећена Богородици Добротворки и
у њој се налази прелепа фреско-икона „Богородица Студеничка.

The Monastery of Studenica is an endowment of
Stefan Nemanja and is located 57 km south of Kraljevo. It was built between
1186 and 1196, when Stefan Nemanja abdicated in favor of his middle son Stefan,
became a monk and was named Simeon. He then came to Studenica and stayed there
for two years, after which he went to the Holy Mount Athos, where he died.
Saint Sava brought the relics of Saint Simeon to Studenica in 1207 and stayed
there as abbot. In Studenica, Sava writes the Studenica Typikon, which
regulates the order and organization of life in this monastic community.
Studenica is one of the few sanctuaries that has preserved both the temple and
the entire complex with the walls, the entrance tower and the refectory of St.
Sava in its authentic form. The most important church in Studenica is dedicated
to the Mother of God the Benefactress and it houses the beautiful fresco icon Mother of God of Studenica.
