Манастир Грачаница је задужбина краља Милутина и налази се
10 км од Приштине. Подигнут је измећу 1315. и 1321.године, али је од
манастирског комплекса остала само црква посвећена Успењу Пресвете Богородице.
Основу храма чине два уписана крста, а читаво здање са пет купола и својим
луковима се степенасто пење увис. Грачаница је одувек била духовни и културни
центар за Србе са Косова и Метохије, а у 16.веку ту се налазила и прва
штампарија. Грачанички живопис представља највећа достигнућа тадашње сликарске
школе и дело је чувених солунских живописаца. У Грачаници је први пут насликана
усправно лоза Немањића са 16 портрета.

The Monastery of Gračanica is an endowment of King
Milutin and is located 10 km from Pristina. It was built between 1315 and 1321,
but only the church dedicated to the Ascension of the Most Holy Mother of God remains
of the monastery complex. The base of the temple is formed by two inscribed crosses,
and the entire edifice with its five domes and its arches articulates into sloping
masses ascending towards the main dome. Gračanica has always been a spiritual
and cultural center for Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, and in the 16th century
the first printing house was located there. The Gračanica paintings represent
the greatest achievements of the school of painting at that time and are the
work of the famous Thessalonica fresco-painters. In Gračanica, the line of the Nemanjić
dynasty with 16 portraits was painted for the first time in a vertically
arranged composition.
